The Emaney water intake consists of a principal intake located at an altitude of 1903.80 metres (owned by SBB and operated by ESA).
Water from several streams is captured by a series of small elementary intakes on the left bank of this intake.
On the right bank, the Blantsin water conveyance flows directly into the intake tunnel, which measures 3.8 km. Water from the Emaney valley flows by gravity into the Emosson reservoir as long as the body of water is at an altitude below 1902 meters.
If not, the water accumulates in the Triège pumping station to then be pumped into the lake.
